ViDA 2026 programme makes the digital VAT timeline concrete

Businesses now have a clearer roadmap for e-invoicing, digital reporting and the expanded One Stop Shop.

Separate the work programme from current obligations

The ViDA programme gives direction to electronic invoicing, digital VAT reporting and the development of OSS. Implementation is phased: publication of a programme does not make every measure immediately applicable to every business. Map the entities, countries and sales flows affected before deciding on systems.

A PDF is not necessarily structured invoice data

Party identifiers, dates, supplies, amounts and VAT treatment must be usable consistently across systems. Manual invoices, changed rates and unlinked credit notes reveal gaps that a new reporting tool alone will not resolve.

Test difficult flows before replacing software

Ask suppliers how country differences and regulatory updates are supported. Compare those capabilities with actual requirements rather than a general e-invoicing label. Test a foreign credit note, platform sale or intercompany service first. Keep already applicable duties, announced changes and unresolved technical details separate in the implementation timetable.
