Complete the figures before using them
Balance sheet items, estimates, disclosures and commitments must form a coherent picture. Claims, financing arrangements and events after the balance sheet date may matter even when they do not appear directly in the ledger.
Explain why profit and cash differ
Inventory, unpaid invoices, investment and repayments can absorb cash despite rising profit. Compare working capital with previous periods and use current figures alongside the annual accounts before deciding on finance, dividends or investment.
Connect reporting with completion duties
A group also needs clear intercompany and consolidation reconciliations. Files may be prepared for an external auditor, who performs the audit and gives the opinion. Adoption, any permitted preparation extension and Chamber of Commerce filing remain separate steps; a preparation extension is not a separate filing extension.
